In December I turned the big 3-0! Being a Christmas baby (27th) can be problematic when you want to have a gathering! So I planned to spend a day out with my friends in January. Art, cake and tea! (there may have been a few glasses of wine in there – hick!!) And what a belated birthday celebration it turned out to be 🙂
The original plan was to go to the Hat Museum in Stockport, followed by afternoon tea in The Plaza. But a burst main near the hat museum meant it was closed – move on to plan B! We all met up at Staircase house… We could go around and draw things in there. I’d never been so thought it was a great opportunity to have a look 🙂 …that’s when I spotted the DRESSING UP BOX!!! Now those of you who know me, know I can’t resist dressing up! Perfect! What made it even more incredible was that the kind people at Staircase House let myself, Eleanor and Chrissy dressed up (and looking fabulous if not a tad bonkers!) out into Stockport Market where we could draw each other and try and keep warm! 😀
It was so funny, we all created characters for ourselves and went to talk to the stall holders. They were intrigued and happy to see us. People were wondering what on earth we were doing but it made them smile 🙂 Out with the pads and pens and let the doodling commence!…
Glass of wine in hand we behaved ourselves (almost) and sat still while everyone drew us 🙂 Here’s some of the outcomes…

No everyone wanted to doodle, which was fine but they joined in with the dressing up! 😉 Here’s friend Michelle and my Mum!
Time flew while we were there, then we had to (reluctantly) go back to get changed. On to The Plaza for some delicious afternoon tea. The doodlers had the drawing bug and kept on scribbling away when we were at the table! (I ate cake and drank wine 😉 – chin chin).

It was an AMAZING day! So much fun to be had, spent with my special friends. In the words of Alice ‘Of all the silly nonsense, this is the stupidest tea party I’ve ever been to in all my life.’ – and I loved it!! As a thank you to my chumbs, I drew them when I got home from the pictures and made them all little thank you cards 🙂
Keep drawing everyone!
